Billie Eilish beamed at the audience in the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday for an all-star show billed as A Tribute to Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra. And sure, the 20-year-old electropop singer and Coachella headliner might have seemed the odd vocalist out in a lineup that also featured the likes of jazz vocalist Dianne Reeves, soul singer Bettye LaVette, and Broadway musical star Brian Stokes Mitchell. But the songs of Sinatra and Lee are beloved standards partly because they’re open to reinterpretation by any talented singer. And Eilish, despite her age, is a mighty talent who clearly knows and reveres her musical elders. [Source: Peter Larsen, Orange County Register]
