Happy with the Blues was a September 1961 television tribute to composer Harold Arlen, starring Peggy (who sang Arlen’s “Come Rain or Come Shine,” “The Man That Got Away” and “Two Ladies in the Shade of the Banana Tree”) as well as La Vern Baker, Bing Crosby, Vic Damone and Joanie Sommers. Peggy co-wrote the title song with Arlen, but it was not used in the program. Twenty-seven years later, Peggy revised her lyric and recorded it for her album Love Held Lightly: Rare Songs by Harold Arlen (recorded in 1988, released in 1993). It has since been recorded by Anne Burnell, Audrey Lavine, Tish Oney and Ian Shaw.
