Christmas Lullaby

Cary Grant was one of the most versatile and beloved leading men in Hollywood history, but by his own admission he was no singer. He developed a friendship with Peggy beginning in the 1960s and one unusual byproduct was his first 45 r.p.m. single, on Columbia Records, featuring “Christmas Lullaby” (Peggy Lee-Cy Coleman) on one side and “Here’s to You” (Peggy Lee-Richard Hazard) on the reverse. Cary’s “Lullaby,” which he dedicated to his newborn daughter Jennifer, is largely recited but he sings occasionally. Peggy didn’t record this song. Petula Clark recorded it for a 2009 Christmas collection.
