Sonny Burke was Peggy's songwriting partner for Walt Disney's Lady and the Tramp. Although four of their songs weren't used in the final film, she recorded them for release on Decca Records ("Jim Dear," "Old Trusty," "Singing 'Cause He Wants to Sing," and "That Fellow's a Friend of Man"). They also co-wrote the song "Sans Souci," a 1952 Decca Records single that Peggy again recorded in 1989 for her Grammy-nominated album The Peggy Lee Songbook: There’ll Be Another Spring.
Peggy also recorded some of Sonny Burke's songs with other lyricists: "You Was" (a duet with Dean Martin), "It's Christmas Time Again," "How Bitter, My Sweet," and the song that became the title of one of her most celebrated albums, "Black Coffee."
